Four suicides in one day in Hassan
Hassan: Hassan district was rocked by two separate cases of suicides, involving four people, on Saturday. In the first incident a man and his daughter allegedly ended their lives by hanging at their house in Aldur village of Chikkamagaluru. In another incident two lovers committed suicide by hanging to a tree branch at a coffee plantation in Bagge village of Sakleshpur taluk in Hassan.
At Aldur incident, Mohan (33), an auto-driver, hanged his daughter Subha (8) first, before he took the extreme step to end his life. His wife Girija was not at home during the time of incident.
The police are to yet to ascertain the cause of death, but they suspect Mohan may have done this owing to family dispute. The bodies have been sent for autopsy, said the police. In the Sakleshpur incident, the police found bodies of Sahana (17) and Arun (17), both residents of Sakleshpur in Hassan, hanging to a tree branch at a coffee plantation at Bagge village. Sahana and Arun were in love and studied at different colleges in Mangaluru. Both went missing from the college and the college authorities had alerted the family of Sahana about her absence.
Sahana’s family then filed a missing complaint at Barke police station. Later Sahana and Arun returned to Sakleshpur and spent some days together, before they were found dead at the coffee plantation. Police suspect that Sahana and Arun might have taken the extreme step fearing they would be separated by their families. Police suspect they may have killed themselves a couple of days before it came to light.
