Uttar Pradesh ATS begins probe into 'leak' of secret Army info to detectives
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Anti Terror Squad (ATS) suspects that sleeper agents of Pakistan’s ISI may have infiltrated the collectorate office in Jhansi and sensitive information about the Cantonment in Babina may have been leaked.
On a tip-off, an ATS team from Lucknow detained a clerk and two other employees posted at the Sadar sub-divisional magistrate’s office on Friday. They are being questioned on their possible involvement in espionage activities. The Babina Cantonment Board comes under the purview of this revenue office.
Soon after landing at the office, the cops, in plainclothes, took away computers and other electronic devices including a pen drive and hard disk.
According to sources, the local unit had kept a steno posted in the SDM office under surveillance for a few days and was keeping an eye on is movements.
The Babina Cantonment has a massive field firing range and the Indian Army often carries out bilateral exercises with military personnel of other countries at Babina.
