Rachakonda police commissioner conducts surprise visits to police stations
HYDERABAD: Rachakonda police commissioner D.S. Chauhan paid surprise visits to police stations and reviewed the work of night duty officers. He checked the availability and performance of staff and examined the availability of patrol cars and two-wheelers. He advised the staff to be available to attend to complaints and other issues around the clock. He said phone calls for emergency help should be responded to immediately. He directed senior officials to monitor the staff on duty.
Not paid, the home guard tried to end his life:
A home guard on traffic duty at Chandrayangutta attempted to die by suicide in front of the home guard head office at Goshamahal here on Tuesday. He suffered 60 per cent burns. He had not been paid his salary for two months.
Shahinayathgunj inspector Nagam Ravinder told Deccan Chronicle that the survivor had been posted to the Chandrayangutta police station for a couple of months. He had not received his salary for two months and had been running around the office. When he attempted to take his life, passersby intervened and stopped him. Police took him to the Osmania General Hospital.
Man ‘Steals’ own phone from PS, held:
In a strange case, a man ‘stole’ his own phone from the Chilkalguda police. The accused, Mohammed Siraj, was taken into custody in a petty case on August 31 and the police seized his mobile phone. They asked him to collect it after clearing the challan. On Tuesday, the police could not find Siraj’s phone in the station. Upon checking footage from the CCTV camera located in the police station, they found Siraj picking up the phone when no one was noticing, on August 31. Police took Siraj into custody again and registered a case of theft and misleading the police. Chilkalguda inspector M.R. Sirikonda refused to disclose details of the case.
Car rental owner arrested for cheating:
The Chandrayangutta police arrested Mohammad Aslam Nawaz, who ran a car rental agency and seized seven cars worth around Rs1.2 crore, which he had rented from the owners and mortgaged. He used the money on himself; when they asked him for their vehicles, he avoided them, said Southeast zone DCP Ch Rupesh. Police said Nawaz started the business in 2021 at Sanatnagar. He used to enter into lease agreements with car owners and used the vehicles for his business. He made agreements lasting a few months with eight owners. On Tuesday, he was caught while moving in a rental car. On his confession, police recovered six other cars. Police found that he had initially operated with around 60 cars, but gradually the number came down with the owners losing trust in him. Nawaz spent most of his earnings on frequent travels to Mumbai and Goa, police found. He was remanded to judicial custody.
2 arrested with 125 kg Ganja:
The Madhapur special operations team and Kollur police arrested Karthik Ravi Kiran Deshmukh, 24, and Kamal Sanjay Sirsath, 23, of Amravati, Maharashtra and seized 125 kg ganja and a car and other property worth Rs35 lakh from their possession. The duo was arrested on the Kollur ORR while on their way to Maharashtra. Raja Bhai and Raja alias Rajesh Patnaik of Vizianagaram, are at large, Madhapur DCP Gone Sundeep sad.
Fake pesticides seized, 3 arrested:
The Balanagar special operation team and the Jeedimetla police arrested three persons while they were smuggling 1,160 litres of spurious pesticides. Police intercepted them when they were carrying the fake pesticide in branded bottles in an auto trolley. The accused were identified as Narender Reddy and Raju of Vanasthalipuram and Venkateshwar Rao of Guntur district.
Ola cab driver assaulted by 2 valet parking drivers:
Two valet parking drivers at a pub allegedly assaulted a 30-year-old cab driver on Monday evening. Jubilee Hills inspector P. Ravindra Prasad said the cab driver arrived at the pub to pick up a customer. The pub's valet parking attendants, Ramulu and Umesh, asked him to move the vehicle. When he tried to explain that he was waiting for a customer, the duo punched him.
