HYDERABAD: anjagutta police on Wednesday arrested Tollywood actor Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, who shot to fame with Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa, on charges of abetment to suicide of a 34-year-old woman, whom he kept harassing.
SHO Panjagutta B. Durga Rao said that the woman had died on November 29 and a suicide case was registered initially. However, based on the findings of the investigation, the case was altered to abetment to suicide, following which he was arrested and sent to judicial remand.
According to police, Jagadeesh and the woman became friends, while working on short films. The woman was working for a private firm and also had a passion for films, due to which she got acquainted with Jagadeesh.
They parted ways after briefly being in a relationship. Meanwhile, Jagadeesh started sending her private pictures and harassed her. Allegedly upset with the harassment, she died by suicide. On a complaint from her father, Panjagutta police started a probe. Further investigation is on, they said.
