Hyderabad: Two drunk passengers onboard a Mumbai-Hyderabad flight that arrived in the city on Sunday morning were booked by the police for allegedly creating a nuisance on the flight and misbehaving with the crew.
The duo was identified as Saif Pasha and Md Ashraf Hussain, traders from Tolichowki.
The police filed a case under Section 290 (public nuisance) of the IPC and relevant sections of the City Police Act. “They were in a drunk condition and picked up an argument with the crew,” said K. Balaraju, station house officer of the RGI Airport police station.
The police said the duo was served a notice and released, with further investigation under process.
The police said Pasha and Hussain were returning to the city after a vacation in Mumbai, and created a nuisance by asking for better seats. The crew tried to pacify them, but the traders continued to argue and failed to accept their explanation, following which the matter was reported to the aircraft commander, airport and security personnel.
Pasha and Hussain were later released as the offence carried punishment of less than seven years.
Airport sources said that usually, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) places passengers on the 'no fly list' for their unruly behaviour, but that the same would happen only after the investigation is completed and a report submitted.
The airline has not issued a statement about the incident.
