Hookah centre raided, seven arrested

The centre did not have the required license and they were serving hookah to minors

Hyderabad: The west zone team of the commissioner's task force raided a hookah centre in Jubilee Hills and nabbed seven individuals on Sunday. They seized 18 hookah pots, 18 flavours, coals, filters, and eight hookah pipes from the place.

Based on credible information, sleuths raided 'The Hyderabad Times Cafe' and apprehended the owner, Mohd. Laiqullah Farooqi (27), along with Mohd Riyazuddin (27), Syed Moinuddin (29), Charan (24), Mohd Ali (30), Mohd Inayath (25) and Pawan Kumar (25).

"They were found guilty of violating the guidelines mentioned in the notification (dated May 23, 2017) of the Union health and family welfare ministry. The centre did not have the required license and they were serving hookah to minors," said officials.

The seven persons and the seized property were later handed over to Jubilee Hills police.
