One Nigerian among four drug peddlers arrested with cocaine worth ₹1.33 crores
HYDERABAD: A Nigerian Victor Chukwu, along with three peddlers from Andhra Pradesh, involved in inter-state cocaine peddling were arrested Saturday morning by sleuths of the Cyberabad special operation team (SOT). They seized 303 grams of cocaine, two four-wheelers, a weighing machine and five mobile phones all worth ₹1.33 crore from their possession. However, three other peddlers, including another Nigerian, are still at large.
Chukwu was arrested by Nanakramguda rotary SOT and Raidurgam police, said Stephen Ravindra, Cyberabad police commissioner, in a press meet later. He said that in order to contain the drug peddling menace, they have created a network of informers, who will keep track of suppliers of drugs and other psychotropic substances.
The prime accused, a Nigerian operating from Goa, Gabrial alias Petit is absconding, while Victor Chukwa, Gajjela Srivinas Reddy, Rakesh Roshan and Surya Prakash alias David have been arrested, Ravindra said.
Roshan, an addict from Guntur, said that he used to visit Goa frequently. After establishing contact, he started purchasing cocaine from Ebuzer for ₹7,000 per gram. Subsequently, he sold the substance to local suppliers like Srinivas Reddy at ₹18, 000 per gram, he said.
On May 5 Surya Prakash went to Goa, procured 23 grams of cocaine from Victor and was arrested by SOT and Raidurgam the same day. Victor, who came to the city to get new orders, and Srinivas Reddy were arrested soon after they entered Hyderabad on Friday.
A case, under sections 21 (a), (c), 22, 29 of NDPS Act 1985, was filed by Raidurgam police. They were later remanded to judicial custody.
