Pani Puri Vendor Arrested For Selling Ganja in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The sleuths of central zone task force along with Abids police on Wednesday arrested a ganja peddler, Mustapur Prashanth, while he was trying to sell the drug to customers in front of the Ramakrishna theatre. When the police searched his bag, they found a packet wrapped in brown tape containing 2.8 kilograms of ganja.

The accused, who is a resident of Murlidhar Bagh in Abids, said he runs Pani Puri business near Taj Mahal Hotel X Road and another at Bharthi Vidya Bhavan Road in Abids.

As his business was not sufficient to meet his increased day-to-day expenses, he hatched a plan to sale the contraband narcotic drug, which in high demand in Hyderabad, police said.

According to police, he purchased the contraband from Yashwanth alias Goutham, a resident of Jali Hanuman, Dhoolpet for Rs. 25,000 and had decided to sell it for Rs 45,000 per kg. Yashwanth is currently absconding.

To meet his prospective customer, Prashanth came to the Ramakrishna theatre area in the early hours of Wednesday, where he was arrested.

Prashanth along with the seized ganja was handed over to Station House Officer, Abid Road Police Station for further investigation, said P. Radha Kishan Rao, Deputy Commissioner of Police (OSD), Commissioner’s Task Force.
