Nellore: Pregnant woman killed in accident
Nellore: Three persons, including a pregnant woman, were killed and another injured critically when the car they were travelling in was hit by a speeding tipper on Wednesday. The woman was being shifted to a hospital for delivery at Chimakurthy in Prakasam district. According to Chimakur-thy police, the woman, identified as Banuri Rama Devi 24, is from Nagularam village in Veligundla mandal of Prakasam district. Her mother Audinarayanamma and aunt Sayamma hired the car to take Rama Devi to hospital.
The speeding tipper hit the car and ran over the vehicle at the bypass junction in Chimakurthy. The dead included Audinarayanamma and the the driver Venkateswarlu. The critically injured Sayamma was shifted to the government hospital in Guntur for better treatment from RIMS in Ongole.
Police and locals had to summon welding equipment to remove the doors and extract the bodies of the deceased from the mangled car. The driver of the tipper, identified as Poorna, escaped from the accident scene fearing public wrath. Ongole rural CI Makineni Murali Krishna, Chimakurthy SI G. Venkateswara Chowdary and Santanootalapadu SI Basha examined the accident site and shifted the bodies to RIMS for postmortem.
