Coimbatore: Drop charges against nature cure man, says Hindu outfit
Coimbatore: Some members of a fringe Hindu outfit, HMK, urged the Coimbatore district collector Mr T N Hariharan on Monday to take steps to have all charges against ‘healer’ Baskar dropped and that he is released from jail.
While the medical fraternity has welcomed his arrest, the Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK), condemned the same, stating in its petition, “in the contemporary era, people have realized the advantages of home remedies and the goodness of traditional medical practices to cure ailments and diseases. Bhaskar has been involved in practicing and preaching the same for the last decade.
All charges against him must be dropped and he must be released from jail at the earliest.” The petitioners also demanded that techniques of traditional and natural methods of child birth be included in government hospitals across the city as a separate wing. “Health care is an individual’s will and wish and the government cannot interfere with the same.” the petition pointed.
Schools to train professionals on natural methods of child birth must be opened in order to train people in the same. Coming down heavily on private hospitals, the petition stated that private hospitals should perform normal child delivery free of cost. “Furthermore, a committee must be formed to oversee the functioning of private hospitals as a majority of them are involved in luring expecting mothers to undergo a caesarean section delivery with the motive of making money. Stringent action must be taken against hospitals found guilty of prioritizing money over health,” it said.
