Belagavi: A young woman, employee of a call centre in Mumbai was allegedly raped and killed by her boyfriend at a lodge in the neighbouring Ranagiri town and her body was stuffed in a suitcase and dumped on the national highway in the outskirts of Belagavi on Wednesday afternoon.
On the pretext of going out on a day's trip, her boyfriend brought her to a lodge in Ratnagiri where he raped and killed her early morning on Wednesday. Hiring a car, her boyfriend along with three of his friends stuffed her body into a big suitcase and dumped it under a bridge on the city's outskirts. Acting on the driver's complaint, the Ratnagiri police immediately managed to arrest two of the accused and brought them to Belagavi on Wednesday evening.
On recovering the body, the police were able to identify the woman as Ankita S Konajay, aged 22 and resident of Nagpur, Maharashtra, sources said.
The parents of Ankita are arriving in Belagavi to identify her body. According to police sources, Ankita was working at a call centre in Mumbai for the past three years and was involved in an affair with the man. Sources said the four men were in an inebriated state when they dumped the body in the city's outskirts.
