Four women arrested for posing as makeover clients in Tirupati
Tirupati: Four women were arrested by the Prakasam police on Wednesday for allegedly stealing from a beautician's home in Tirupati after posing as makeover clients.
The arrested women were identified as Mundru Lakshmi Navata, 35, Karanam Mohana Deepthi, 40, Alahari Aparna, 39, and Shaik Sahera Bhanu, 38, all hailing from different parts of Ongole.
According to the police, the women were tipped off by an acquaintance, Dasari Bhanu, about the beautician, Raziya, who lived alone and had valuable jewellery. On September 5, the women posed as makeover clients and visited Raziya's home at 11 am. They used chemicals on Raziya's face, rendering her unconscious. They then stole her gold jewellery and raided her safe, taking 10 sovereigns of gold and Rs 40,000.
The police were able to track down the women using technology. They were arrested near PVR School, Ranga Rayudu Cheruvu near Ongole. The women confessed to the crime and also revealed their involvement in similar cases in Podili and Donakonda. The police recovered 100 grams of gold and Rs 40,000 cash in this case, along with 96 grams of gold in another case, totalling an estimated Rs 11,00,000 in recovered items.
