Man booked for dog’s death due to negligence
Hyderabad: Following a complaint from a pet owner, the Banjara Hills police filed a case against a man claiming to be a police officer on allegations of causing the death of a pet he adopted due to negligence.
Pet owner Mausumi Sucharita claimed in her complaint that she gave her dog for adoption to Balakrishna during an adoption drive in April 2022. In her complaint, Sucharita reported that Balakrishna had the dog neutered in December.
The dog was doing well after the surgery, and Balakrishna took the pet to his home on December 26. "On December 30, Balakrishna called me to inform that the dog was unwell, and I advised him to take the pet to a vet immediately and also provided some references. When I called him the next day, he said he hadn't taken the pet to the vet," she explained.
She stated that she kept contacting him for an update on the dog's health, but she received no response, and when she went to his house on January 3, she discovered that the dog had died.
In her complaint, she claimed that Balakrishna had failed to provide proper care to the dog, resulting in her death. According to Banjara Hills inspector S. Narender, they have filed a case against Balakrishna under the IPC and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and have begun an inquiry.
