Inter-state Matka Gambling Organiser Nabbed in Telangana
Nizamabad: Nizamabad police arrested inter-state matka organiser Mohammad Jameer on Sunday. The accused had been organising Matka gambling in Telangana and Maharashtra states for the last five years. Taskforce police took him into custody and were trying to identify the bookies, agents and gamblers involved in the case.
Mohammad Jameer organised the gambling in Nanded, Dharmabad, Biloli, Wardha, Akola, Amravati in Maharashtra and various districts in Telangana. He conducted betting on winning numbers of gambling taken from the Matka organisers.
Police found that transactions worth crores of rupees were conducted in the gambling by attracting people with the promise of benefits. Police are inquiring about the followers of Jameer and their assets.
Commissioner of Police Kalmeshwar Shingenavar warned stern action against agents, organisers and gamblers of illegal matka, which has been halted due to the arrest of prime accused Mohammad Jameer in Nizamabad.
CP Kalmeshwar appreciated the efforts of taskforce ACP Rajasekhar Raju, Nizamabad ACP M. Kiran Kumar, CIs Ajay Babu, Anjaiah, north rural CI Satish, V town SI Appa Rao and others. Rewards will be given to the officers soon, he said.
