Quack Held in Mahabubnagar District
Hyderabad: Sleuths of the Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) on Monday arrested a quack, S. Murahari, who was running a clinic under the name ‘New Life Care Clinic’ at Palakonda Village Mahbubnagar District, and seized a huge quantity of medicines stored illegally. About 36 varieties of medicines including antibiotics, steroids, anti-ulcer drugs, analgesics, etc., were seized from the clinic, said DCA director V.B. Kamalasan Reddy.
Based on intelligence, sleuths from DCA, Mahbubnagar Zone, raided the clinic. Among the seized medicines, DCA found several higher generation ‘antibiotic injections’ and ‘steroid injections’. Indiscriminate sale of such drugs, particularly antibiotics, by an unqualified person may have disastrous consequences on the health of the public in rural areas, including emergence of ‘Antimicrobial Resistance’, added Reddy.
DCA sleuths also took samples from the medicines for analysis.
