VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada city police officials who boasted of being the first to introduce many technological initiatives in crime detection, have failed to trace the hospital owners who have abducted and beaten up a financier. The incident happened three weeks ago and the police do not have a clue about the whereabouts of the three hospital owners. The incident has happened on May 14 and since then the accused Myneni Hemanth, Puvvada Ramakrishna and Chalavada Ravi who own hospitals in Vijayawada city were on the run.
They have abducted and beaten up one Tammaraddy Brahmaji Rao on a dispute over Rs 50 crore low interest loan. Initially, the police have tried to settle the issue by going out of the way after Brahmaji Rao lodged a complaint. They have given a window for the accused to flee from the city. As the issue has come out, Vijayawada police commissioner D. Goutam Sawang swung into action and suspended two police officials immediately.
He even formed special teams to trace the accused hospital owners. Even after three weeks the police officials are still in search of the accused hospital owners. Interestingly, in the meanwhile, the doctors have filed anticipatory bail petitions in Vijayawada metropolitan court. As the court has rejected their bail plea, they have even approached the High Court for bail. The petitions are now pending with the High Court.
Doubts are being raised over the police inaction and slowing down the action. Discussions within the department are going on that the high-profile doctors have used their political clout and exerted pressure on the police to go slow on them till the verdict on their bail plea comes out in the High Court. A senior police official who was involved in the investigation has said, on the condition of anonymity, that two teams were kept on the lookout to nab the three accused. “We have identified 16 persons involved in the case and the case will come to a conclusion once these three main accused are caught,” said the official.
