Centre Initiated Probe into Naidu Scams, Says Dharmana

VISHAKHAPATNAM: Revenue minister Dharmana Prasada Rao maintained that the scams involving former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had first been exposed by central government agencies like Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax.

He pulled up a section of media for stating that the state government had orchestrated the cases against the chief of the opposition Telugu Desam Party.

Inaugurating an Urban Health Centre in Srikakulam on Saturday, the minister pointed out that Siemens in Germany has denied that it received any funds from the then Telugu Desam government.

“The idea of setting up new companies, including Siemens, originated only to divert funds. Skill Development Corporation funds went only to two persons – one was Chandrababu Naidu’s PA and the other was Lokesh’s PA,” he remarked.

Prasada Rao said the opposition has been stating that Chandrababu Naidu is a respectful man and had worked as chief minister. Hence, he should be released.

“The fact, however, is that Chandrababu Naidu has to himself prove in the court whether or not he is innocent,” the minister underlined. He reminded that great personalities like Indira Gandhi, P.V. Narasimha Rao, Jayalalithaa and Lalu Prasad too had faced courts.

The minister maintained that YSRC government has remained above board. It has been trying its best to improve the quality of life of people by launching various kinds of welfare schemes, which are far from corruption.
