Hyderabad: Cases have been registered against unidentified persons at Malkajgiri, Neredmet and Alwal police stations, after BRS leaders complained of receiving threatening calls from some persons impersonating Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajashekar Reddy.
Neredmet police station house officer A. Shiva Kumar said that K. Upender Reddy, husband of Neredmet corporator K. Meena from the BRS lodged a complaint saying that they have been receiving threatening calls from the MLA’s number. “ Believing that the MLA was calling them when they answered the call, the callers threatened them,” he said.
It looks like some crooks have spoofed the MLA’s number and called them, Shiva Kumar added.
In Malkajgiri, former corporator Jagadishwar Goud received similar threatening calls, following which Malkajgiri police registered a case. A case was also registered at Alwal PS, after the local BRS leaders complained of similar threatening calls.
Police said they are verifying the details of the callers with the help of IT and cybercrime teams and will trace the callers soon.
