Man gets 20 years for assaulting minor

Vijayawada: In a decisive step towards upholding justice, the Guntur Special Pocso Court has sentenced 32-year-old Koteswara Rao to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for assaulting a minor girl. The verdict comes in the Pocso case registered at the Nallapadu police station, bringing a sigh of relief to the victim and her family.

Judge of the Special Pocso Court, along with a dedicated trial monitoring team overseen by Guntur district SP Arif Hafiz, meticulously pursued the case. They were aided by the instrumental efforts of then South sub-division DSP, Jessie Prashanthi, who played a crucial role in gathering crucial evidence and ensuring a smooth trial process.

Following a thorough investigation and trial, the court handed down the 20-year sentence along with a Rs. 3,500 fine to Rao. SP Arif Hafiz commended the team's commitment to securing justice for the victim and emphasized the police department's unwavering resolve in bringing perpetrators of serious crimes to book. He further underlined the significance of an effective trial monitoring system in ensuring swift and fair dispensation of justice.
