TD Activist Paraded Naked in Police Station Premises, Beaten Black and Blue
Anantapur: A video of the Palthur police in Vidapanakal mandal parading a TD supporter naked in the police station premises went viral on social media on Monday.
TD activist Chandra Mohan of Cheekaguriki village in Vidapanakal mandal was reportedly taken into custody on Jan 1 following a complaint from the YSRC leaders over burning of a YSRC party flag in the village.
The Palthur police called Chandra Mohan to the police station and reportedly beat him black and blue. His clothes were removed and he was paraded naked in the police station premises. After this, the police released him on the same day.
Police claim that he was in an inebriated condition, he behaved aggressively against the police and a case was registered against him.
Chandra Mohan suffered a rib-bone fracture in the police action against him. He was not able to walk due to the torture. Police shifted him to a Ballary hospital for treatment.
However, the video of the police high-handedness was made public on Monday and it went viral on social media. TD leaders demanded action against the police for their inhuman behaviour.
Guntakal DSP Narasingappa claimed that the police did not beat Chandra Mohan but a case was registered against him for “behaving aggressively and in an inebriated condition.”
