Plus-1 student commits suicide in Namakkal village
Namakkal: The death by suicide of a 16-year-old ‘Plus-1’ student at Sultanpettai near Paramathi Vellore in Namakkal district late on Thursday night has plunged the entire village and neighbouring areas in grief.
Police said on Friday that the deceased Vikash, studying in a private Matriculation school at Vennimalai in neighbouring Karur district, had in a recent mid-term exam scored less marks in two subjects. He had since come home near Paramathi Vellore.
Apparently fearing that his parents and teachers will chide him on his poor performance in two papers, police said a heart-broken Vikash had left home on Thursday morning after telling his parents he was going back to school.
However, Vikash till late on Thursday did not return home and when his parents mounted a search, they were devastated to find the boy hanging by a sari in a dilapidated hut near his house.
Paramathi Vellore police retrieved the body and sent it to the Paramathi Vellore GH for post-mortem. Further investigations are on.
