Hyderabad: A top government official, along with a Bhojpuri actress and a convicted pimp wanted by the Banjara Hills police, were apprehended from a five star hotel in Banjara Hills by the North Zone Task Force team on Saturday. Police seized Rs 40,400, 12 condom packets and three mobile phones from them.
The arrested have been identified as Ambula Janardhan Rao alias Jony, 46, the organiser from Padmarao Nagar in Chilkalguda, Amit Mahendra Sharma, 39, a government servant residing in Sainikpuri and a native of Haryana and the 24-year-old film artist flown in from Mumbai, who works in Bhojpuri movies, police said.
Sharma is a colonel level government servant, sources said. “Rao, a native of Ramachandrapuram in East Godavari, is a brothel organiser and procures upcoming film actresses from Mumbai. He organises services at star hotels in and around Hyderabad. He was previously arrested by Banjara Hills, Panjagutta and Chandanagar police,” said the DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force, P. Radha Krishna Rao.
On Friday, the sub-organiser, Banothu Prashanth, who is absconding, had booked room no. 518 at Radisson Blu Plaza, a five star hotel in Banjara Hills for providing services on Saturday night.
“They get film actresses from Mumbai on a weekly contract by paying Rs 1 lakh. Rao collects Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 from each customer,” the official added.
Acting on a tip-off, officials conducted raids at the room and apprehended the two men and rescued the victim.
“The involvement of the hotel in the case is under investigation,” the North zone police added. The arrested accused and the seized material were handed over to the police.
