HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad police arrested six vendors and seized prohibited categories of cigarettes, including e-cigarettes, that were being targeted at school students. The seized cigarettes were valued at around Rs2 lakh.
Madhapur DCP Sandeep Rao said the police had booked three FIRs. He said the police had identified 10 individuals for their involvement in the sale of the cigarettes. While six have been taken into custody, the rest are absconding.
The sale of the banned categories of cigarettes started in 2019; the contraband was sourced from Kolkata. The DCP said strict legal action will be taken against those involved in selling or consuming these harmful substances.
