Police sabotaging case against actor Sreejith Ravi, say Parents
KOCHI: The parents of the school girls who are complainants in the POCSO case registered against actor Sreejith Ravi for exhibitionism have come out with a complaint that the police was again trying to sabotage the case without collecting proper evidence in the case. The father of one of the complainant girls said the phone the cops had seized as evidence was not the one the actor possessed and that the police department was yet to initiate action against the officer who was suspended over allegations of threatening the girls to withdraw their complaint against the actor.
“The action was taken against a cop whom we don’t know,” he said. The actor himself had told the girls in the presence of the police that it was a mistake on his side, he said. As directed by the superintendent of police here, women cell circle inspector K.A. Elizabath is investigating the complaint that the Ottappalam police tried to hush-up the case.
The Ottappalam police has been under the cloud for its inaction in the case right from August 27 when the actor allegedly showed his private parts to a group of girls, uttered lewd comments an took photographs. The parents had alleged that a proper inquiry started only after they took up the matter with district collector and district police chief on August 30. The actor was arrested and additional sessions court -1 had granted him conditional bail.
