13-year-old gangraped by neighbour, friend
Hyderabad: Two persons, one of them a juvenile, abducted a 13-year-old girl from Meerpet and gangraped her, the police said on Tuesday. The police said that the accused were also involved in bike theft.
Meerpet inspector M. Mahender Reddy said that one of the accused, Ratan 21, was an acquaintance of the girl. “On November 5, around 7.30 pm, (the major) accused noticed the girl heading home and offered to drop her on his scooter. When she obliged, Ratan's friend, a 17-year-old juvenile, who had dropped out of school after failing Intermediate, joined them, stating that he was headed the same way. The two then took her to a flat above Ratan's house and allegedly gangraped her. They also threatened the girl against disclosing the incident,” Reddy said.
Following a complaint filed by the girl on Tuesday, the police registered a case under sections 376, 342 and 363 of the IPC along with sections 5 and 6 of the POCSO Act.
“We have taken a detailed statement from the girl and started an investigation. Meanwhile, the girl was sent for a medical examination and to the Bharosa Centre for counselling,” Reddy said.
