Vijayawada: ACB sleuths arrested SI and two constables while accepting a bribe of Rs 45,000 at Tsundur police station in Bapatla district on Thursday.
According to ACB officials, Tsundur SI Borugadda Bharat Kumar demanded a
bribe of Rs 75,000 from hostel welfare officer Bathula Govinda of Abbarupeta
in Bapatla town to avoid arrest in a case booked against him and also to
prevent the seizure of his vehicle. Accordingly, the victim paid Rs 30,000 in
advance
However, when the SI demanded payment of the remaining amount, the victim
lodged a complaint with the ACB. In turn, the ACB trapped the SI and two
police constables.
Based on the SI's instructions, police constable Dara Kranthi Kumar took Rs 45,000 from the complainant and handed it over to another constable, Garikapati Ravindra, who works as a writer in the station. The ACB authorities will produce the accused SI and two constables in an ACB special court.
