CBI raids on Puducherry government medical college
Puducherry: A day after Medical Council of India (MCI) directed three private self-financing medical colleges in Puducherry to discharge 161 MBBS students admitted in 2017-2018 , a team of CBI officials conducted a raid on government medical college here on Friday.
The seven-member team from Chennai reached Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Research Institute here in the morning and undertook detailed search until late in the evening at the office of director of the medical college. According to sources, the CBI raid is being conducted following complaints of widespread irregularities related to the recruitment of staff in the medical college.
“Already there was complaint of irregularities in the purchase of equipment to the medical college and it is known that CBI is inquiring into that also. It is not immediately known that whether the admission of students under NRI quota violating the norms is also under scanner,” said the source.
