2021 hit-and-run turns out to be murder, four held
Hyderabad: A hit-and-run accident reported at Shadnagar in 2021 turned out to be a murder for claiming insurance, the police said, after arresting four persons, including a head constable, in the case. Among them was the man who had purchased the insurancy policy for the victim.
According to the police, the main accused Boda Srikanth approached an insurance firm to claim money on the policy of the victim, Edla Bikshapathi. The firm contacted the police after finding that Srikanth was not related to the victim.
The police said they gathered leads about the victim, based on technical evidence. “When we connected the dots and questioned the suspects, they admitted to having killed Bikshapathi to claim his life insurance and also a house registered on his name in Uppal,” Shamshabad DCP R. Jagadishwar Reddy said.
He said that Srikanth was a repeat offender and was previously held by the Rachakonda police for duping a private bank of ₹1.3 crore by floating a fake firm, listing employees and obtaining credit cards for them.
Srikanth, in October 2021, purchased a life insurance policy worth ₹50 lakh for Bikshapathi and house insurance, listing himself as the nominee for both, as the victim used to work for him and had no relatives.
Upon facing a financial crisis, he teamed up with head constable Jatawath Motilal of CCS Balanagar, and two others, Banoth Sammanna and Chaganti Satish, to murder Bikshapathi.
