Benagluru: In separate incidents, two girls, below 10 years old, were sexually harassed by their neighbours, in Vidyaranyapura and J.J. Nagar police limits on Sunday.
The police said that in the first incident, a seven-year-old was sexually assaulted by a 29-year-old auto driver, who was also her neighbour. The accused, Mujamil Sohail, was arrested under Section 376 (rape) and sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.
He has two wives and is the father of three children, including two daughters, the police said. The probe revealed that Sohail barged into the victim’s house on Sunday around 11 am and subjected the girl to sexual harassment. “The girl screamed and neighbours caught hold of Sohail while fleeing,” the police said.
In the other incident, a 40-year-old businessman was arrested on charges of sexually harassing a five-year-old girl in the J.J. Nagar police limits.
The accused, Mohammed Roshan, runs an automobile business.
The probe revealed that on Sunday, Roshan dragged the victim to an under-construction site and committed the offence. Passersby caught hold of him when the girl shouted for help. The arrested were produced before court and were remanded to judicial custody.
