Telangana police books Nayeem's kin for involvement in illegal activities
Hyderabad: Telangana police arrested several people including two women very close to Nayeem and many of his followers to choke his network. The entire Nayeem family including his sister and in-laws were booked by the police for involvement in illegal activities. Police seized bulletproof jackets, grenades, butcher knives and other weapons.
On Tuesday Narsingi police arrested Farhana, 30, the wife of late Syed Ahmed, a cook at the house of Nayeem at the Alakapuri township house and a native of Miryalaguda and Afsha alias Inshiyad, the wife of Amer (Amer is Nayeem's driver) belonging to Eadulgudem in Nalgonda.
The duo were produced in court and were sent to custody for questioning on criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery, and for offences under the Arms Act and the Explosive Substances Act.
Police alleged in the remand report that after seeing the police during the raid the duo tried to escape and had firearms in their handbags. Police said the duo confessed that Nayeem had trained them on how to operate pistols as he feared attacks from other gangs.
Police said Nayeem mainly targeted realtors and businessmen for extortion.
“Farhan confessed that she was brought by Nayeem's relatives to work as a cook in his house and Nayeem used to look after her family as she was a poor widow. She confessed that Nayeem was operating gangs for extortion, settlements and indulged in kidnaps and murders and also targeted realtors and the rich for extortion. As she became a family member he used to hand over all the documents and valuables to her. She along with Afsha used to look after the wife, kids and family members of Nayeem,” the police said.
Three cases were registered in Nalgonda one town police station against Nayeem’s cousin Asmath Tajammul Ara, the wife of Mohd. Hafeez, for carrying a sword, gun and land documents, Mr Tamat Srinu for carrying a gun and land documents and Mr Jahangir for having a sword.
In Miryalaguda one more case was booked against Nayeem's mother-in-law Sultana, his brother-in-law and brother-in-law's wife for possessing land documents, four detonators and a country revolver.
Three more cases were booked by Bhongir police against MPP Thotakuri Venkatesam for possessing a gun, four rounds and two documents.
Kunapuri Shankar and Srisailam Gundu Venkatesh were booked for possessing hand grenades. Councillor Nasser of 27th ward in Bhongira was booked for having a gun and documents.
One Sirdhar Goud was hosting Nayeem’s gang in Injapur village of Cyberabad and his neighbours told the police that gangsters used to visit the house for land settlements during odd hours.
