Telangana Special Fast Track Court Announces Compensation for Rape Survivor\'s Son

Hyderabad: In the first of its kind verdict in Telangana, a court announced compensation to the son of a rape survivor. The Special Fast Track Court for Pocso Act cases at Shadnagar announced Rs 10 lakh compensation to the survivor, who was then 13, and Rs 5 lakh to her son born out of the relationship.

The court was delivering verdict in a 2017 case of a Dalit girl being cheated and left pregnant under the promise of marriage, Shadnagar police said.

The accused, then 30, lured the girl with the promise of marriage and forced her into a physical relationship and raped her repeatedly. When she conceived, he distanced himself from her saying that he would not marry her as she was a Dalit. The girl and the accused belonged to the same village and the accused stalked her while she went to school.

On her complaint, Shadnagar police registered a case and arrested him. The court began trial in March and delivered the final verdict on Monday.

The court took note of the DNA test report that proved the paternity of the accused and found him guilty of the charges against him and delivered the judgment, said additional special public prosecutor P.J. Ramakrishna.

Cyberabad police commissioner M. Stephen Raveendra congratulated the investigation officers and court duty officers and the prosecutor for securing the conviction.

Drone Usage: Case booked against youth

Hyderabad: The Begumpet police registered a case against one G Sravan, 21, from Peddapalli district for flying a drone without permission during the Telangana Mudiraj Sabha meeting at Parade Ground in Secunderabad on Sunday. Police said that sub-inspector R. Jayachandar, who was posted to the venue, noticed Sravan flying the drone. Sravan was using it to film the meeting for his personal use. Police booked him for not securing permission and seized the drone.

ACB arrests two field assistants in Rangareddy

The ACB on Monday arrested two field assistants working at the Rangareddy district court in LB Nagar for demanding and accepting a bribe. The accused, K. Ramkishan and D. Venkateshwarlu, were produced before the special court for ACB cases and sent to judicial remand.

An ACB press release said the duo demanded the bribe from an advocate to implement court orders which were for handing over possession of a property through a warrant.

The advocate approached ACB over the bribe demand, following which the sleuths laid a trap. The ACB said that on behalf of Ramkishan, Venkateshwarlu received the bribe amount of '11,000 and was caught redhanded

Man dies by suicide in Thorrur

Hyderabad: A man succumbed to injuries he sustained when he attempted to die by suicide at his house in Thorrur village, Hayathnagar police said on Monday. Police said that Alati Shiva Lokeshwar, 28, after an argument with his wife Lavanya attempted to die by suicide on October 5. The couple was married on February 3, 2022. A few months after marriage Lavanya got Shiva’s plot registered on her name. She was reportedly forcing Shiva to transfer the registration of his autorickshaw to her name, or divorce her, police said.
