School students go missing in Tirupati
Tirupati: Three girls and two boys studying in classes 9 and 10 of a school in Tirupati went missing on Wednesday morning on their way from school to their residences.
According to the police, the students arrived at school at 6.10 am for study hours and left to have breakfast at 8.10 am, after taking a test. When they failed to reappear at school, teachers called up the students’ residences but found that they had not reached home either.
The teachers searched surrounding areas but were unable to find them. They lodged a missing persons complaint with the West Police Station.
“As soon as we received the complaint, we deployed teams to locate the missing children. Special teams have also been formed, and CCTV footage from the school and surrounding areas is being analysed. Messages have been sent to all the police stations in the state as well as our counterparts in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. We will find the children soon,” a senior police officer said.
Meanwhile, the students’ parents are trying to trace their children and posted their details on social media platforms.
The police asked the public to contact the Tirupati Command Control Centre on the 100 helpline, or the West Division Police at 8099999977, if they have any information about the whereabouts of the missing children.
