Cops Crack Murder Mystery, 3 Held
Hyderabad: Filmnagar police on Saturday arrested three persons in connection with a couple’s murder over financial issues. The accused first killed Syed Ahmed Quadri at their place and buried the near a tank. Later, they killed his wife Syeda Meraj Fatima in her flat, locked it from outside and fled. Meraj Fatima worked as a dietician at a corporate hospital and Quadri was in the goat trading business.
The incident came to light after Fatima’s sister said she was not responding to her. Suspecting Quadri, she lodged a complaint. With Quadri being untraceable, police looked through the CCTV camera footage and found the unknown persons entering the victims’ flat on two occasions.
Based on the clues, they nabbed one of the three persons, Mohd Salman, who confessed to the murders and named has associates as Asghar Shaikh and Mohammed Hussain from Mumbai.
Police said Quadri had received Rs.20 lakh from Shaikh as investment three years ago but had not provided any details from then on.
On November 29, Shaikh quarrelled with Quadri who refused to return the money. Shaikh with his associates smothered him to death and buried the body near a tank.
They used Quadri’s key to enter his house and lay in wait for his wife Fathima. When she returned, they asked her for the money. When she refused to repay, they killed her, concealed her body under the mattress, locked the flat and fled.
Filmnagar SHO M.G.S. Ramakrishna said that they initially suspected Quadri as he was harassing Fathima for not being able to have children. “But based on technical evidence and other clues, they solved the case and arrested three accused. We have also recovered around 9 tolas of gold stolen from Fatima and the almirah in the flat,” he added.
