Karimnagar: A married woman was rescued by firefighters after she jumped into a well in an attempt to end her life due to family disputes in Karimnagar district on Saturday.
The 36-year-old woman, a resident of Krishna Nagar Colony, had a quarrel with her family members at her house. She was depressed and decided to commit suicide and jumped into the well located in the backyard. However, there was waist-deep water in the defunct well.
Her family members immediately alerted police, who, in turn, informed the fire department. By using ropes, the woman was rescued from the well by the fire personnel, said district fire officer T. Venkanna. Later, the victim and her family members were counselled by the officials.
