HYDERABAD: Agents working with an app-based lending company harassed a 35-year-old woman from Kukatpally, working as a recruiter for an MNC, and forced her to pay ₹45 lakhs for a ₹9 lakh loan that that she had availed from them.
She said in a police complaint that she had borrowed the money in October last year but had cleared the dues. When she did not agree to pay more, the agents called her friends and relatives and even sent her pictures branding her as a female escort and fraudster.
To stop them, she went on paying the agents. When the sum reached ₹45 lahks and she was harassed for more, she approached the Cyberabad police who registered a case and started an investigation.
Police said the victim had availed of the loan from a few loan apps which are operated by the same organiser.
