SOT to crack down on adulterated food items in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda and Cyberabad police have formed a special operation team to track down those adulterating milk, garlic paste and other food ingredients with harmful preservatives.
During the past three weeks, the SOTs have seized over 150 litres of adulterated milk, 300 kilograms of hydrogen peroxide, 550 kilogram of spurious non-veg masala and several cartoons of soft drinks with preservatives.
Following the direction of Cyberabad police commissioner D.S. Chauhan, the SOT on Thursday raided a godown in Bhoodan Pochampally arrested Kante Mahinder and seized 40 litres of milk adulterated with hydrogen peroxide. They also seized 200 grams of hydrogen peroxide, chemicals and preservatives.
“We will continue the drive against adulterated and suspicious items. No one will be spared,” a senior police officer said. “It is a threat to the safety of children who consume milk,” he said.
