Hyderabad: Two arrested for selling oxytocin
Hyderabad: West Zone Task Force team, along with Drug Inspectors from Mehdipatnam Zone and Charminar Zones, nabbed two men in possession of 1500 Oxytocin liquid bottles, a banned drug. They also recovered other incriminating materials from them.
The officials conducted raids on ‘Banwarilal Suresh Kumar Bansal, Chunni Bhoosa Shop’ in Mallepallly and at Bandlaguda, the manufacturing unit. They apprehended two men, identified as Shaik Abdul Khaled, 33, and B.Suresh Kumar Gupta, 65, who were found possessing Oxytocin, a drug used for veterinary use but banned by the Government because it was a liquid steroid.
The men were selling the same and were earning easy money. Officials seized 1500 Oxytocin liquid bottles (200 ML, 180 ML, 140 ML), three Oxytocin injections, two bottles of Phenol I.P, three sealing machines, and 180 ML empty bottles with caps from their possession.
“In 2009, Khaled started a business on the name of ‘SK Medical Agency' at Edi Bazar in the city and started supplying generic medicines and also surgical items. In the year 2015, he came into contact with one Mosir who informed him that he was supplying Oxytocin injection bottles in Hyderabad illegally. Mosir offered him a lucrative business proposal and Abdul agreed,” said the police.
He started purchasing Oxytocin injection for Rs 25 per bottle and started selling the same for Rs 50 per bottle and also to Suresh Kumar Gupta as he was running a cattle feed business. “Khaled also learnt the process of making Oxytocin steroid from Mosir,” said the DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force, Mr. P. Radhakrishna Rao.
In October 2017, after his travel business failed, Shaik Abdul Khaled once again hatched a plan to sell the Oxytocin liquid/steroid to the dairy farms to earn easy money. “To make Oxytocin, Abdul Khaled used to mix water with Oxytocin Injection (Human use only), which he would purchase from different medical shops in Hyderabad, Phenol I.P. and crystal salt were brought from medical agencies in Boggulakunta area,” added the official.
On Tuesday, based on a tip off, the West Zone Task Force team along with Drug Inspectors from Mehdipatnan Zone and Charminar Zones conducted a raid and apprehended the duo and seized the materials from them.
The persons along with seized materials were handed over to Drug Inspectors, Mehdipatnam Zone and Charminar Zone for further investigation.
