Dasapalla Rani was eligible for 5,400 sq yards land only
Visakhapatnam: Continuing his attack on Rajya Sabha member V. Vijaya Sai Reddy and his associate for trying to grab 15.65 acres of Daspalla land worth over Rs 2,000 crore, Jana Sena leader and GVMC corporator P.L.N. Murthy Yadav said the land owner Rani Kamala Devi was entitled to only 5,400 square yards but the group that was led by Vijaya Sai Reddy made her sell 15.65 acres of land to 64 persons using ground rent pattas, which is generally given for agriculture purpose.
Yadav said when the Urban Land Ceiling Act came into force in 1976, Kamala Devi was left with only 1,800 square yards. She went to the High Court seeking three parcels of land each measuring 1,800 square yards for her children who were minor then. While the case was pending in the court, the ULC Act was abolished. There were several reports which established the government ownership over the lands.
Since the issue was in the court when the ULC Act was abolished, Rani was entitled only 1,800 square yards as per the legal opinion then. But the revenue officials misled the courts and got ex parte decree in her favour. Sensing the land would go into the hands of land grabbers, former collectors Seshadri and N. Yuvaraj brought the entire 60 acres under the gambit of Section 22A.
Former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in 2005 proposed to construct houses for MLAs and MPs in these lands while Praveen Prakash was the collector. But the proposal was shelved as it ran into controversy.
Murthy also alleged that these alleged realtors violated CRZ, ULC Act and Green Belt laws to develop projects on the Beach Road.
He reminded that it was Vijaya Sai Reddy and the present minister Gudivada Amarnath who demanded CBI probe into the Dasapalla lands when TD leader Nara Lokesh’s name popped up as the new acquirer.
He demanded high-level probe into all these land dealings.
