Cyberabad police write to Google

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police investigating the data theft cases have found that the data seized from the accused had been hosted in cloud platforms by unidentified persons, who shared them in the form of links and the credentials have been shared with brokers for several days.

Police have written to Google seeking the details of those hosted the data. Police have found the data has been hosted in more than 70 links.

Meanwhile, the Union home ministry and also the the Union ministry of electronics and information technology, have sought the details of the data theft cases from the Cyberabad police. It was learnt that both the ministries have taken up the case on priority in view of the sensitive and confidential data found in possession of the accused.

Cyberabad police said that they will be proceeding against the 20 websites who they have found to be selling individuals' data to data brokers and other players.

Inquiries also revealed that one of the accused, Vinay Bharadwaj, sold some software related to data procuring to a few foreign nationals a few weeks before his arrest. Officials have now started identifying the foreign nationals who have purchased these softwares from him.
