Bhubaneswar: A servitor of Lord Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri was on Monday arrested for allegedly molesting a girl inside the premises of 11th century shrine, police officials said.
The shameful incident took place when the girl, a resident of Berhampur in Ganjam district went inside the temple for darshan along her family members, the police official said.
Santosh Kar, a servitor of the temple, was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim, who alleged that he was trying to touch her inappropriately. The girl caught hold of the servitor’s hand and raised an alarm, the police said.
“Santosh Kar, a servitor, has been arrested for trying to touch the girl inappropriately,” said inspector Gokula Ranjan Das of Singhadwara Police Station.
