Madurai: The Madurai bench of the Madras High court on Wednesday, by an interim order, categorically restrained Nithyananda, founder of Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam, Thiruvanamalai, or any one claiming under him, from interfering or entering the Madurai Aadheenam Mutt here.
"This Court, prima facie, is of the view that despite the orders of the honourable division bench of this court as well as the order of the learned single Judge of this court, the eight respondent (Nithyananda) is illegally attempting to interfere with the administration of the Mutt," said Justice R Mahadevan in the order.
The court passed this order on a writ petition filed by one M Jagathalapradapan from Madurai who sought the court to direct the chief secretary of the Tamil Nadu Government and the commissioner of HR & CE department, Chennai, and Madurai collector to take suitable action against Nithyananda and protect the Mutt which was started by Thirugnana Sambander some 1,500 years ago.
The petitioner Jagathalapradapan, founder trustee of Madurai Meenakshi Children Trust said he was the follower of 292th pontiff Arunagirinatha Sri Gnanasambandan Desika Prama Achariya Swamigal.
