ANANTAPUR: Villagers of Gangulavayipalem in Madakasira mandal of Satya Sai district suffered a collective shock after burglars targeted their locked houses while everyone was enjoying a night-long Devi Natakam till the wee hours on Friday.
Unlike in urban areas, dramas are performed till sun rise in rural regions of Rayalaseema region. The drama started on Thursday night.
Sure or not being disturbed, burglars ransacked eight houses after breaking their locks. Villagers returned after completion of the drama only to find their doors open and locks broken.
The villagers searched nearby areas but in vain. They then approached Madakasira police, who have registered complaints and are assessing the value of property stolen by burglars.
