Mumbai: Boys made to stand naked outside coaching class as punishment

Mumbai: A minor boy was made to stand naked outside his coaching class here as a punishment, while another underage student accompanied him wearing just a T-shirt, leading police to book two persons for the incident.

The shocking incident came to light on Saturday when a video featuring the two boys, aged about 5-6 years, went viral on social media platforms.

The footage shows the two boys — one of them naked and the other just in a T-shirt — standing outside a coaching centre here, apparently as a punishment.

The minors were clutching books, wiping tears and looking around in embarrassment even as people pass by the busy road, where the centre is located. Police officials said that the video was shot on Saturday morning by NGO volunteers.

“Police have registered a case against a teacher and the owner of a coaching class under the Juvenile Justice Act,” he said. No arrest has been made so far.

A senior police official from Malvani police station said that when they approached the families of the two boys, they refused to register any complaint. Thereafter, the police took a suo moto action.

Sources said that the two boys were not good in studies and were more into bullying. Apparently, the parents had also told the owner of the coaching class to be strict with the kids and punish them if required but not beat them at any point.
