Rs 4.65 lakh recovered from Kerala businessman's car in Krishnagiri
Krishnagiri: The district election officials have recovered unaccounted cash of Rs 4.65 lakh from a Kerala businessman who was heading towards Bengaluru in the neighbouring Karnataka.
In the wee hours of Saturday, a team of officials conducted vehicle check at Bynapalli tollgate, on the Chennai-Bengaluru national highway.
A car with Kerala registration was stopped at the tollgate. When checked, the officials found Rs 4.65 lakh in the vehicle.The money was confiscated, as the occupant Abdul Samad of Palacode in Kerala was unable to show documents for transporting the amount.
In another incident, a sum of Rs 2 lakh was recovered from the man who was travelling in a two-wheeler on Krishnagiri-Kuppam road.
On Friday, the officials made a big catch of Rs 53 lakh that was transported to Kelamangalam from Bengaluru. The amount was confiscated in the state border from Mahindra Kumar of Bengaluru.
Though, he was carrying the cash for buying property in the Kelamangalam sub-registrar office limits here, he could not give evidence for his claim leading to the confiscation of the amount.
Official sources said, a total of Rs 74.47 lakh including the amount of Rs 53 lakh confiscated on Friday, was recovered in three days in Hosur taluk of Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district since the EC’s model code of conduct came into force for May 16 Assembly polls.
