Viveka Murder Case: Probe officer absent as YS Bhaskar appears for questioning

ANANTAPUR: Accused YS Bhaskar Reddy, facing questioning in the murder of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy, said on Sunday that the case investigations should be based on the letter reportedly written by Vivekananda and found at the spot of his death. “Without going into the letter, no investigating agency can solve the case,” he stressed.

Bhaskar Reddy presented himself on Sunday at the CBI camp office near the Kadapa central prison, based on a notice he received from the central investigation agency. He arrived there from Pulivendula along with several of his supporters.

Curiously however, the investigating officer was not available for questioning. The agency staff told Bhaskar he would be served another notice for appearance on another day. “Though my health is weak, I came here to answer questions from the CBI,” he said.

Noting that his son YS Avinash Reddy and himself have been the focal points in the CBI probe, Bhaskar Reddy said, “I pray that the CBI reveal the details of the letter and investigate the case from that angle. The investigations should be impartial.”

CBI had questioned Bhaskar a year ago, for two days, and recently served notice on him to appear before it last month, but he expressed his inability due prior engagements. Another notice was served on him to appear on March 12.

Sources said the agency is likely to serve another notice on Bhaskar Reddy, asking him to appear before it in Hyderabad instead of Kadapa, to avoid possible tense situations -- of massing up of his followers.
