Swift action by cops leads to arrest of ATM thief
Hyderabad: The swift action of Rachakonda cops led to the arrest of a thief within five minutes after he attempted to commit a theft at an ATM centre in Moula Ali.
“On being informed by the locals, our team reached the spot and caught the thief red-handed,” a police officer said.
Police sources said that the alarm about intruding and trying to damage the SBI ATM at Moula Ali alerted the bank’s main server in the early hours of Tuesday.
“Apart from the locals, the bank field officer also alerted Malkajgiri police inspector, sources said.
As our patrolling vehicle reached close to the ATM, they noticed a person trying to break the ATM. Our officers swung into action and nabbed the accused,” Borozu Ravi Kumar, Malkajgiri police inspector said.
Sub-inspector K. Hariprasad, and assistant sub-inspector Subbarayudu were on night patrolling duty, Ravi Kumar said.
During interrogation, accused Pankaj Kumar said that he is from Chhattisgarh and has been residing in Moula Ali for the past three months.
