HYDERABAD: A school principal was booked under the Pocso Act for misbehaving with a 16-year-old Class 10 student of his school in Budwal, Mailardevpally.
The case came to light when the victim on Saturday returned home early. Her mother grew suspicious when she remained silent and kept crying, Mailardevpally police said.
During the night when her parents counselled her, the victim said that her school principal was misbehaving with her, passing comments like “you look beautiful” and asking her to kiss him, police said.
The victim’s parents on Sunday approached the Mailardevpally police and lodged a written complaint against the principal Gurram Shankar (35), police said.
“We have recorded the statements of the victim and her parents and registered a case under the Pocso Act against Shankar,” said inspector P. Madhu.
Shankar, who also owns the school, was also misbehaving with other students, said many parents and demanded stern action against him. The parents of another girl stated that Shankar had misbehaved with many girls due to which they were forced to change the school.
Shankar has been taken into custody while woman police personnel are inquiring with other students and staff management about the principal.
