Haryana: Newlywed woman kills mother-in-law for not letting her use mobile
Rohtak: Police on Monday arrested a newlywed woman for allegedly murdering her mother-in-law over not letting her use mobile phone in Bhiwani district of Haryana last Friday.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the accused, Surekha (20), had concocted a story of her mother-in-law Phoolwati’s murder, but confessed to crime on Monday.
The matter came to light when Phoolwati’s husband woke on Saturday morning to find his wife covered in blood and daughter-in-law lying unconscious at the main gate.
Phoolwati was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, while Surekha was administered medication, said the report.
In her statement, Surekha told police that two masked men entered their house on Friday and attacked her and Phoolwati. But the police did not believe the story and called her to join the investigation.
“During investigation, she revealed that she attacked her mother-in-law with an iron rod. She has been arrested and taken on police remand. She said she was tired of her mother taunting her on trivial issues and not allowing her to talk on mobile phone,” Bhiwani sadar station house officer (SHO) was quoted as saying.
