Rachakonda police bust international drug racket

HYDERABAD: Rachakonda police busted an international drug network operated by Pune-based Shaikh Fareed Mohammad Ali and Faizan Arun Mujaheed and seized 500 grams of Pseudoephedrine and 80 grams of gold from the duo, here on Tuesday. They was planning to ship the drug to Australia and New Zealand.

They packed the drug in powder form in small pouches and concealed them inside cloth packs, for easy shipping abroad. While the value of the seized drug is Rs. 55 lakh, the duo confessed to have shipped 15 consignments, about 70 kgs of the drug to Australia and New Zealand during the year 2022, said Rachakonda commissioner DS Chauhan. Their associates Mohammad Kasim and Rasuldeen were arrested in December 2022.

Police said Ali, a college drop out, initially began a peanut chikki business along with his father. As one of his sisters was settled in Chennai, he would frequently visit Chennai to buy foreign electronic goods from his brother-in-law and sold them in Pune. In this process, he met Rasuldeen and another accused Faizan and got into the drugs business and started sending consignments to Australia and New Zealand.

Inquiries revealed that the duo received pseudoephedrine from Raheem, a Chennai based drug peddler. In December drugs weighing around 8.5 Kgs were seized. In continuation to the investigation, police nabbed the duo and sent them to judicial remand on Tuesday.
