Minor boy gets community service in POCSO case

Three-year-old Lured, assaulted by minor, says police

Tirupati: In a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case reported under Chimakurthy police station of Prakasam district, Juvenile Justice Board sentenced the accused, a 16-year-old boy, to one year of community service at a government medical institute over the duration of three years.

According to Prakasam district superintendent of police Mallika Garg, on August 25, 2019, the accused had lured an unsuspecting three-year-old boy with the promise of buying snacks from a local store. He took him to a secluded place, where he assaulted him sexually and harmed him physically.

The victim's parents, upon knowing about the incident, filed a complaint with Chimakurthy police.
Ongole DSP K.V.V.N.V. Prasad initiated a thorough investigation, which culminated in the filing of a chargesheet in the Juvenile Justice Board. The trial ensued under the guidance of SP Mallika. Juvenile Justice Board judge and principal magistrate Bhanu Sai handed down one year of community service within a three-year period for the accused.

The SP appreciated the efforts of DSP Prasad, court liaison ASI Koteswara Rao and Chimakurthy court constable Hari Krishna for bringing the case to its conclusion.
